25.2.2014

  • printing for poster, notice and stage design decoration
  • encounter some bug during testing process (
  • logistic area ( projector usb cable not working - testing out with different alternative ways to solve this problem, due to CPU unable to support the heavy connection so we decided to use the normal vga cable but the CPU must be placed on the table so that it able to connect due to the limitation of cable length
  • graphic leader - support logistic to decorate the stage design
  • technical leader - figure out the bug occured in the CPU however a plan B has figured out by using laptop as the CPU and project it through monitor screen. add in more sound fx into the animation to make a final refinement.

24.2.2014

  • Setting up the curation
  • poster and notice design and refinement
  • project plan refinement for installation
  • technical - adding soda boost ( solving invincible coding )
  • refine the pie table decoration with take me tag, buy material
  • enhance the appearance of the screen ( mounting board reuse )

19.2.2014

  • Compile all the background music and sfx together with the game - technical
  • looping problem for the game mechanism
  • decorate the frame for the screen using mounting board , prepare cloth to cover the wires and furnitures
  • sound fx in comic panels got problem unable to call the background music, adjusting the volume of sound fx to make it balance with the background music - enhance user experience
  • Beta test from department lecturers
  • Feedbacks :

18.2.2014

  • Graphic refinement on the landing page 'take the pie', character animation
  • Create animation for slideshow instruction and landing page
  • Researching on sound fx for the character animation , editing sound fx in adobe audition
  • Logistic - building projector stands and test the angle of projection to measure the size and distance between the artefact and projector in a curation space.
  • Technical - solving the problem on inserting sound fx in the game mechanism, importing the character animation into the game- unable to detect ( Leon can further explain about this in ur dairy )
  • Refine flowchart and project plan

17.2.2014

According to logistic leader, we require to buy materials to build a DIY stands
  • Materials for building the DIY stands- pvc pipes , drew out the structure plan
  • Create the cover for the mouse as a console for user with decorative elements to create a theme for this game, bought felt to sew to make it looks like a pie
  • Technical- invincible issue that unable make the character become invisible- still able to hit the objects, consultation with Yi Wei about the array problem which cause the obstacles overlay each other - solution for this is to manage the obstacles by hiding at the bottom and call it whenever is needed.
  • Refinement on comic graphic, character walk cycle, experimenting color scheme for certain elements
  • Floor plan refinement ( change to Plan B ) 2 surfaces instead of 3 due to the limitation space given in iis the projector wide area was too big , Resolume only able to preview swf. but no interactivity will be included.

5.2.2014

Before alpha test, we're still refining our own department work to do the best we can at least the game must be able to interact. These are the alpha test feedback from the lecturers to further improve our installation:

Visual design :
  • Improve character run cycle to make it looks natural, for the fat guy-hand animation can be done logically by doing some research on run cycle reference same goes to chef's hand, the rolling pin needs to be hold in a angry position
  • The colour scheme of the building must not blend in with the character as the character plays and essential role as the main control in the game system.
  • The console of the game shown in the slideshow must look similar as the real console so that it won't confuse the user but its easier for the user to look for the console.
  • Demo of the game play can be included as part of the introduction before user starts the game so that they get an idea how this game works. Instead of listing out the scoreboard, we are recommended to display only on top score on the first landing page so that every user can beat the highest score which has been displayed at the front page.
  • The typography in the slideshow can be shorten, may consider include get ready fat guy animation for loading page, eg. get up and stretching, short instruction lead the user to take the mouse at the starting page, press button to skip the comic for user who do not have patience.
Audio :
  • Make sure include Interactivity with sound effect to give user feedback
  • Find adventure time theme songs for background music and sound fx to test with the graphics, most importantly need to cite the music for educational purposes to prevent copyrighted issue.
Interactivity :
  • Minimal playtime for each user to give chance for other user to interact the game, level design for the game mechanism , health and score position can be display in 4 surfaces so that user can see when he/she is running.
Curation :
  • Health and fitness concern during the game play in a physical space,
  • Included sign of heart disease or pregnancy or only single player is allow
  • Structure of the dimensional objects can be tilt to the middle so that audience can see the user interaction
Content :
  •  Refine a detail flowchart, remix a sentence, instructional video

29.1.2014

Today we successfully access to IIS room for product testing. Technical has produced the game in adobe flash because web socket is not recommended for design student to explore with in a short amount of time so we decided change to our learning skill which is Adobe Flash. However, we still do some research about web socket & mobile interaction in case there are some simple tutorial which allow designers to play with before the end of the class. If we unable to search the best tutorial, we proceed to Plan B whereby changing web socket & mobile interaction to Adobe Flash & mouse interaction to interact the game.

Additionally, technical leader has done some research and fully utilized the knowledge of Resolume within the working days so we can immediately proceed to Resolume testing with graphic leader's teamwork cooperation where she managed to finish designing the overall background for the gameplay which is more than enough to put in a test in the Resolume software to experiment projection mapping.

On the other hand, logistic leader had done the set ups based on what he had construct in the floor plan. It's a tough time to try out diagonal angle in a small spatial room however logistic leader still figuring our what are the best solution to overcome this problem. Graphic leader will continue refining the UI design and character animation.

After consultation with lecturers about our new idea again, we requires to refine the character animation and enhance the characteristics of the character by adding correct lighting, and also due to the wide angle of the projector graphic leader needs to enlarge the building and reduce the sky to make the character stands out. We might also need to concern about the mouse sensor distance but Logitech managed to reach about 10 meter long detection so it wouldn't be a problem for user to run around with it. The curation of space is not finalized yet since logistic still experimenting what are tools can support such high length of projector and requires to concern about user safety.

21.2.2014

UI design has been created and receive feedback from the group mates. The overall tutorial design for the video documentation will further refine since is a formative deadline. Besides that, technical leader managed to research some coding and starts to experiment along the working days as for graphic leader will continue her character design and storyboard digitally.

We use adobe after effects as the best tool to create our short video documentation in order to achieve a motion graphic effect. Upon from that, I continue refining the product plan as we constantly change our idea and informative research.

20.1.2014

A final approval from the lecturers about our concept. We've a short meeting to discuss on the short video documentation that will be published and displayed at the side for our project as virtual guidance for the user to understand our installation and also our working progress towards the goal. Thus, we've decided to go for motion graphic style so that it looks like a theme along with our installation. By listing out the necessary points for the video description would help to summarize the content in the documentation video and ensure that it's understandable for all users.

After presenting our short video documentation to peers and lecturers, our feedback from them are the research content was not strong enough to convince the user whereas mostly included the power of the graphics. Meantime, our idea still falls on none satisfactory so Jazmi has suggested us to create either a fun experimental installation or a project that focus on serious matter. So, we've decided move towards the direction of experimental since my team prefer to leave a fun impression for the users. From there, we want to create a side scrolling game experimented in a physical space and how does this game able to improve sleep deprivation among the youngsters. Shahnim has recommended us to focus on exercise as the heal potion of sleepless night as well as boost a person's happiness.

Content leader will be researching on demographics targeting on sleep deprivation and what are the possibility causes of sleep deprivation. At the same time, how exercise can cure this problem according to experts such as National Foundation Sleep, BBC news and etc. We are sort of leaving behind compare to other group due to our rejection times and time management wise issue hence Shahnim has organizationally remind us which leader should do the roles to ensure our progress run smoothly and of course sound do play and important role to enhance user experience.

17.1.2014

We had another online meeting to discuss about the interaction for prevention scenes.

These are the following prevention found from the experts journal and then we break down the interactivity will be used in our installation:

1) Change your password regularly
  • stick to our first UI design, however to be more competitive, every time a password has been clear the system will generate different passwords regularly for user to choose, so the more passwords user gets is the winner.
2) Don't simply click on links
  • there will be random links popping out from the screen, user need to close the links by swiping off to the left/right.
  • Graphic leader needs to design funny links to make the whole experience fun and hilarious.
3) Do not simply check-in your location in Facebook
  • User need to avoid the location image/words that coming towards user spontaneously by jumping
  • Interaction - Plan A: Coming towards user
  •  Plan B: Drop from the top, user need to avoid from left to right
  • Technical leader needs to research about the mechanism and software that fits the game.
  • Graphic leader needs to research on map designs and UI designs for the environment scenes.
Graphic leader has no choice but redesign based on this new concept and technical continue further explore about Kinect technology.

16.1.2014

After consultation with Jazmi, it's preferable to provide prevention than solution for the user as we've misunderstand the initial meaning of these both content. Due to our solution as prevention, we decided to change to prevention as the delivery message to overcome identity theft issues. So, we changed the whole idea and replaced with other interactive technology and game.

Since we're in lack of interactivity based from body, data and space, we decided to research on Kinect motion gesture which involves the requirement of the topic body, data and space. Hence, we research on Kinect hack as well to explore unexpected results from Kinect hacking project. It's a challenging job for technical leader to explore a whole new unfamiliar technology in a short amount of time but according to his teamwork spirit he willing to give it a try to hit the spot. As for other leaders, we continue improve our own department skills and parts to make sure the progress is working constantly.

So, we've research on articles that talks about the prevention of identity theft in social media and mainly targeting on Facebook because our initial topic was too broad and lecturer suggested us to narrow down into one social media so that it's easier for us to focus on execution based in a smart planning way.

The following prevention are the resources provided by Facebook association campaign:

Prevention:
  • Use Strong Password
  • Change password regulary
  • Don't simply click on links on FB
  • Log out in public places
  • Don't simply friend everyone
  • Protect computer ith anti-virus software

These information will help us to branch out our interactivity ideas based on the prevention above.

15.1.2014

Today, our group presenting ideas and concept to peers and lecturers. We've consulted Shahnim and Jazmi about our concept and receive feedback for further improvement before the presentation starts.
These are the feedback from peers and lecturers:
1) What motivates people to play again? How to make it as repeatable experience?
2) Research about demographic to find a suitable average age for our target audience
3) Strengthen the interaction for the solution part, why should I invest on things that mouse able to create such result too?
4) To make sure user play as the role of Lucy by showing first person view while solving the mini games.
5) The solution can be separated to 3 parts so user able to choose the game play and end the game play faster or happen that user stops the game halfway
After receiving feedback from the peers, we immediately came up with new ideas:
  • competitive game ( challenge with one another to fight for achieve as winner)
  • single/multiplayer
  • We will show the scenario first then user can choose which solution user want to use to solve the problem.
Solutions :
1) Reset your password
2) Find 3 trustable friends to send you security code:
Who is the fastest that can find Lucy's friends by peeling off the profile image and user must choose the correct friends.
3) Scan you identity card
Who got the fastest to stop on the identity theft to prevent him from spending from place to place will announce as the winner.
Due to in lack of time, we might finding some alternative ways to deliver our message at the same time manage to reduce our animation.

Feedback from Jazmi after consulting him:
  • motion gesture is best fit for balance & accuracy
  • Speed is not recommended for motion tracking because it requires high ram to load the animation and might cause some technical problem occurred.
  • we either choose towards adventure game or casual game
  • insert more activities in our solution part sort of like ' detective game'

13.1.2014

Product Plan Refinement after consultation with Shahnim and Jazmi for our new idea during class. The feedback are the organization of the information in the Product plan is not organize where it will affect user's understanding towards our installation so it's best to add icon of the information located at the side of the main info. Furthermore, our interactivity does not provide strong relationship with our chosen topic so we need to research more on the relevancy of solution method with identity theft issue.

We've proposed some new ideas in a short time length before class end to our lecturers in order to get approval from them so that we can proceed to our next stage. Despite of that, as a content leader, I've to prepare slides for wednesday's presentation to peers and lecturers about our overall concept and how does it attributes to the users.

8.1.2014

Product plan submission day and proceed to execution with graphic, technical and logistic development progress.

6.1.2014

We've face to face meeting again to further discuss about the technical specification and stage design for our installation. At the same time, we've analysed which character design visualization suits the best for our narrative which has been designed by our graphic leader and also the storyboard that shows the narrative flow of the overall game experience.

Besides that, we've updated our development plan according to our role onto the project plan as we know our own department clearer. We still consider which topic will suits the best as our idea occur in the middle of stand-alone artefact and project mapping. Due to in lack of time, we'll stick to projection mapping and further explore from there.

3.1.2014

Another face-to-face meeting which is the best way to discuss and giving out ideas by building up concept and objectives. However, Leon unable to attend for the meeting so we'll update our discussion area to him as well as receives feedback from him to make a final group approval for the chosen topic.
We've decided to preview certain short story in each scene and find allow the user to find solution to solve the problems. Thus, instead of screening a film but we input some interactivity element into the video would enhance the user experience. Nevertheless, we've struggled the thinking process for social media identity topic due to the limitation of academics information and real-life news so we've decided to change our topic to what if your online identity has been hacked by identity theft?

The purpose of choosing this topic is based on most of the teenagers nowadays, they often create real and fake online identities on social media networking sites to meet more new online friends and also part of their self expressionism places. This is where identity thief has higher chances to tackle the naive victims online and get benefits from these youngsters. Hence, we want to create a campaign about the awareness of identity theft and what are the precaution user should do before got hacked.
We've found some resources from the experts about this issue.

We'll still stick back to our original idea but the story will have some slightly changes. All starts with a girl's identity has been hacked by an identity thief. In addition, user will experience the issue by setting up on how this problem able to against you and providing guide for user on how to solve the problems.
We want to use the idea of game to deliver our message in order to make the overall experience more engaging.

Graphic leader will start to research and design the characters whereas content will be researching on case studies about ways of protecting social media account/identity to support our argument. As for the logistic department, we've discuss the curation of stage design for our installation and how the theme and placement of the equipment suits the environment. Last but not least, technical leader will start researching on the possible future codings for this project.

31.12.2013

We meet up for another online meeting session to explore on the relationship between social media issue and interactive technology media to produce our installation. The issue we currently tackle on is the importance of social media identity in technology world today and how to prevent ourselves being harm by social identities. Furthermore, we targeting on isolated audience who lost or don't own an identity as well as the awareness of anorexic towards online awareness. There are several topic we've discussed during the meeting. For example, what if you lose your identity or you don't even have one? Then, we'll provide a decision making storytelling as user experience to aware people about social media identity issue.

This is one of our raw idea for the decision making parts.
User able to choose two endings for the girl victim:
1) Regain back her social identity
2) Find friends that having the similar identity

Meanwhile, a short film portrays the cause of the girl losing her identity will be shown from the aesthetic of the animation graphics with experimental colour scheme. Our overall discussion includes the form of interactivity and graphic where both of these are the roles which requires essential collaboration to achieve a sustainable artefact.

30.12.2013

-online meeting discussion since some of our group mates unable to attend face-to-face meeting, strengthen our initial concept
- timeline given for this project  is rather short so we need to stabilize our idea as fast as possible in order to balance up our execution timeline.
- we've researched plenty of similar benchmarks from experts and projection mapping ideas for inspiration then we break down our suggestion ideas and look into the potential ones. body>data>space
We've consider implementing the idea of light and dark experimented in a spatial room. From there, we expand the little branches such as the importance of conserving energy and interactive story telling.
- consider of technology usage related to body>data>space before forming a problem statement.
Besides that, we've inspired from the brief statement 'real and virtual embodiment' and link us to social media issues.

18.12.2013

- receive the brief earlier to get an idea about the key purpose of this project
-Group formation session and distribute leader roles among teammates.
- discuss and analyse a new topic which all of us would love to explore - projection mapping artefact
- along the discussion we borrowed some installation art book from Shahnim to further inspired our chosen artefact topic
- furthermore, we've gain additional information such as the functionality of the equipment so that we can creatively utilized  the equipment for our upcoming project.
